Lot Essay

Very few examples of this low chair were ever made; currently, only eight chairs and two banquettes in this style have been identified. Produced for several buildings in Chandigarh, there are slight variations in size and finish to each chair indicating that, as was the case with much of the furniture for Chandigarh, the pieces were made at different times in a number of different workshops.
