NORTHERN GREEK, 17TH CENTURY Archangels Michael and Gabriel standing frontally, the first one dressed in military attire and raising a sword, the second one wearing robes and holding a sceptre, the two of them bearing a medallion with an image of Christ Emmanuel blessing with both his hands, dense white brushtrokes emphasise the rounded areas of the faces and arms, colourfully painted against a gold and green background
