Guarinus], 1579. 8° (155 x 96mm). Historiated initials, with the final blank (title lightly spotted, mainly marginal light spotting). 18th-century calf gilt (rebacked with old spine relaid, rubbed). Provenance: CHATSWORTH COPY (shelf label on pastedown, number on title).
FIRST EDITION. Vindiciae contra tyrannos was "probably printed at Basle, outside the jurisdiction of the popes, emperors and kings, but it was prudently given a bogus imprint.
