The Yusupov family acquired their palace in St. Petersburg in 1830 in order to house their superb art collection. It featured an integral 180-seat theatre with orchestra pit for 20 instrumentalists. The Yusupov name today is chiefly associated with the infamous Grigoriy Rasputin who was poisoned, shot & finally drowned by friends of Prince Felix Yusupov.
