The case with later urn finials and foliate trellis mount to bell top, all angles chamfered and brass stop-fluted, brass handles above brass-lined glazed side panels, conforming front and rear doors, with brass-bound base raised on bracket feet, the brass dial with foliate scroll gilt spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with date aperture, signed in the shallow arch Eardley Norton/London/1093, flanked by subsidiary rings for chime/not chime and four tune music selection (Dance, Minuet, Dance, Cotillion), blued steel hands (later minute), the triple line and fusee movement with six ringed pillars, verge escapement, hour strike on bell and music on nine bells with fifteen hammers via 3 in. barrel, the chimes running down the scale on the quarters and playing full tune on the hour, trip repeat, the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls, with pendulum holdfast and repeat signature, also numbered to top right; crank key, case key
