William Webster of Exchange Alley was apprenticed in 1727 and Free of the Clockmakers' Company 1734-1776. The distinctive style of this attractive table clock, with its circular glazed door panel revealing only that part of the dial which is necessary for telling the time and with a rectangular dial below, was introduced by John Ellicott circa 1755.
