A Chinese jade celadon and grey two handled cup, 19th century
carved after the archaic gui form, the compressed globular body carved in low relief with two taotie masks above waves and islands, all below the waisted neck with archaistic dragons alternating with high relief mythical beast heads flanked by flanges incised with key fret, the two ring handles emerging from the mouths of mythical beasts and carved with flanges, supported on the foot with two pairs of confronting dragons and ruyi-heads, the stone of pale gray-celadon tone with areas of black inclusions -- 6¾in. (17.1cm.) wide, wood stand.
