A pair of Canton enamel boxes and covers, 19th century
each with rounded sides, surmounted by a stepped domed cover with a circular finial, supported on a splayed foot, the exterior enamelled with two cartouches enclosing dignitaries playing weiqi and boys reading books alternating with foliate lotus blossoms, the cover with three cartouches enclosing figures resting under a tree, a man kneeling before a ruler and a hut in a mountainous river landscape alternating with lotus scrolls, blue four character Qianlong marks -- max. 7 7/16in. (18.9cm.) diam. (2)
