A GERMAN ETCHED CIRCULAR SHIELD, IN LATE 16TH CENTURY STYLE
19th Century
With concave body drawn up to a central acute point, flattened rim with turned cabled edge, etched with bands of scrolling foliage radiating from the centre, with a band of strapwork foliage around the rim, the latter incorporating a series of brass-capped lining rivets on brass rosette washers, and with two pairs of stellate rivets for the enarms (the lining and enarms each missing).
