TWO CIRCULAR PARADE SHIELDS AND THREE FURTHER ELEMENTS OF ARMOUR ALL IN 16TH CENTURY STYLE
Late 19th early 20th Century
The first shield with convex body with turned roped edge and fitted with central spike on an elaborate three-part iron calyx washer; the second shield strongly convex with recessed border and recessed centre drawn up and fitted with central spike, the body decorated with a broad band of radiating flutes alternately etched with scrolls, and the centre etched with an arrangement of soldiers in mid-16th Century dress; a large horse shaffron, complete and in 'aged' condition; a breast-plate and tassets etched in late 16th Century style; and a matching close helmet.
