AN UNUSUAL 54-BORE ADAM'S PATENT MODEL 1851 SELF-COCKING PERCUSSION REVOLVER BY JOSEPH BRAZIER, RETAILED BY WM.DOOLEY, 11, RANELAGH ST.T, LIVERPOOL
No. 30760 B, circa 1854-5
With blued barrel rifled with three grooves and signed in full by the retailer, blued scroll-engraved frame stamped by the licensee maker 'I. Brazier' in miniscules on the left above the trigger-guard, fitted with blued safety-catch and blued Brazier patent rammer, plain cylinder numbered '8276' (case-hardened, now faded to grey), chequered figured walnut butt with case-hardened cap, engraved blued trigger-guard, and much original blued finish, London proof marks: in original fitted oak case (relined), the lid with an original illustrated Dooley trade label (partly oil-stained and rubbed), the lid escutcheon incribed with the owners name 'Mr. Geo. Stone, Liverpool', and with some accessories including original Adams bullet mould and Dixon copper flask.
