Finely embroidered in satin stitch and couched gold threads with three descending phoenixes converging on and encircling a large blossoming peony stem which issues upwards behind the phoenixes into two additional blossoms, all superimposed with dense vaporous clouds swirling around the phoenixes and serving as the background, with fine details such as the gold-couched throats of the birds, the legs and talons, as well as the lotus pods
