A flat, "straight line" (ichimonji) jingasa lacquered brown and black, the underside ornamented with squares of gold foil
16 3/8in. (41.6cm.) diameter

With wood box inscribed Kanji Keio ninen hinoe tora kugatsu kichijitsu (an auspicious day in the ninth month of 1866) and Shincho kore Kosaka uji (Made to order for Mr. Kosaka)
