A Chikugo Wakizashi in Mounts
Muromachi period (early 15th century), inscribed Tenta
Broad hira-zukuri, iori-mune cut on the sides at the back ridge in the manner of an unokubi configuration and forged with ko-itame and flowing masame, the hamon suguha hotsure with a suguha-hakikake tip, carved with bo-hi kaku-dome on both sides, the tang o-suriage with katte sagari file marks and one hole, the remains of an earlier hole where tang was shortened
19 1/8in. (48.6cm.) long; single gold habaki and wood storage scabbard
Aikuchi koshirae comprising a red-brown lacquer saya with sections at the ends of the scabbard applied with brocade covers, koshirae, Edo period (19th century)
With a certificate issued by the Nihon Token Hozon Kai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Sword) no. 11914 attributing this sword to Tenta of the Chikugo Miike school, dated 1992.5.3 (2)
