Inlaid throughout with scrolling foliage and foliate-enclosed borders, the rectangular breakfront superstructure with a central drawer over a recess, flanked to each side by a further pair of drawers, the panelled sides finely inlaid and engraved with a tazza of fruit, the lower section with central drawer with Apollo-mask escutcheon and inlaid with sphinxes, flanked to each side by a further pair of drawers, the right side lower drawer fitted with a locking compartment and lift-out tray, divided by shell-cast volutes, with panelled inlaid back, on eight square waisted and tapering legs headed by Ionic capitals and with shell clasps, joined by a loop stretcher inlaid to each end with a rosette, on tapering acanthus-wrapped feet; the reverse of the lock-plates stamped FOUCHER FRES/A PARIS , various of the drawers with paper retailer's label printed MELBURY GALLERIES/Antiques and/Works of Art/272, Kensington Church St.,/W8
