Lot Essay

The name of Freeman is associated with a number of cabinet-makers working in Norwich from the mid-18th to the mid-19th centuries.This stencilled mark is linked to the carver and gilder William Freeman (1784-1877) also Looking-glass manufacturer and print-sellerRegional Furniture 2006, John Stabler Dictionary of Norfolk Furniture makers 1700-1840 in which this same stamp is illustrated on P.65,Pl 19.
