The artist should read Attributed to William Gershom Collingwood (1854-1932). An attribution to his father William Collingwood (1819-1903) has also been suggested.

拍品专文

A pupil of Ruskin at Oxford, and later his secretary, neighbour in Cumbria and biographer, Collingwood accompanied his father on sketching tours from an early age. The present two early works presumably juvenilia from these first excursions. For a later work by Collingwood, see lot 244.
