Lot Essay

A pupil of Ruskin at Oxford, and later his secretary, neighbour in Cumbria and biographer, Collingwood accompanied his father on sketching tours from an early age. The present two early works presumably juvenilia from these first excursions. For a later work by Collingwood, see lot 244.
