Lot Essay

Seago first met the actor Jeremy Spenser after seeing him perform in Henry James's 'The Turn of the Screw' at the age of 14, when he asked to paint his portrait. The two became close friends, and Seago painted him a number of times over the years. Spenser was one of four executers appointed by Seago to administer his estate.
