A PARIS POWDERED BLUE-GROUND PART TEA SERVICE
Circa 1790, probably duc d'Angoulême, incised script B to the teapot and sugar-bowl
A band of Vitruvian scroll reserved on the gilt band at the rims, the finials, handles and spouts burnished gold, comprising:
A cylindrical teapot and cover, 7¾ in. (19.5 cm.) wide overall
A milk-jug, 6 1/8 in. (15.5 cm.) high overall
An oval sugar-bowl and cover, 5 in. (22.7 cm.) high overall
Ten cups and saucers (25)

See Régine Plival de Guillebon, Faïence et Porcelaine de Paris XVIIIe-XIXe Siècles, Paris, 1995, p. 142, figs. 125, 126 for two coffee-cans and saucers with colored grounds and reserved gilt bands at the rim, both with handles identical in form to those on the present teacups and attributed to the Paris factory operating under the protection of the duc d'Angoulême.
