Comprising a double strand of lapis lazuli cylindrical beads, restrung with later clasp attachment
18 in. (45.7 cm.) long
Provenance
Formerly in the collection of Henry Wallis (1830-1916).
In later life the Pre-Raphaelite artist, Wallis, became a noted scholar and collector of antiquities; his publications included works on Egyptian, Classical, Medieval and Islamic art. Wallis travelled widely in the Mediterranean and Egypt, where he met the archaeologist Sir W. M. Flinders Petrie.
