Of spherical form with lower pointed end, the top flattened with a small central depression, the sides moulded with three roundels containing tughras and the date, together with trinagular panels of small lozenge panels, the shoulder with stylised inscriptions and floral motifs, floral motifs around the mouth

Lot Essay

The roundels on the sides this egg are in fact inset coins minted in Constantinople and dated 1187.
