A lacquer tray and a chabako [tea ceremony utensils box]
Edo Period (17th century)
The first rectangular, decorated in gold and silver togidashi-e on a black lacquer ground with daikon and the second rectangular, with flush-fitting cover decorated in gold hiramaki-e and inlaid in mother-of-pearl on a sparse nashiji ground with poppies, red lacquer interior and mother-of-pearl rims, possibly added later
