A bunko [document box] and suzuribako [writing box]
Meiji Period (late 19th century)
Each decorated in fine gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, gold foil, kinpun, hirame, nashiji and silver togidashi-e, the suzuribako with a boat tethered beneath pine trees, the interior with gold and silver water dropper, slate inkstone and a set of implements mounted in silver, chased and engraved with foliage, silver rims, the bunko with a pavilion beneath pine trees and a cascading waterfall, the interior of the cover with a further pavilion in a lakeland landscape, nashiji interior
