3 vols in 1, 8° (250 x 125mm). With the first half-title. Engraved allegorical frontispiece by Florov after Langer, engraved title-vignettes. (Some marginal soiling, occasional light browning.) Contemporary tree calf, flat spine gilt in compartments with Greek key tool (rubbed and scuffed, lower front corner worn off). Provenance: I. Sumarokov (inscription) -- 'Printed in Russia' (stamp on endpaper) -- Paul M. Fekula.
FIRST EDITION. The author Sergei Glinka, who founded and edited Russkoi Vestnik; had witnessed the events of 1812 -- many of his works reflect his patriotic fervour and belief in the uniqueness of Russian culture. Fekula 4700 (this copy); cf. Obol'ianinov 255.
