2 vols, 4° (332 x 251mm). Portraits, plates, plans, and maps, some folding, some in colour. (Marginal browning.) Contemporary red morocco, spines tooled and lettered in gilt, upper sides titled in gilt within a gilt frame with floral corner-tools, lower sides framed in blind, gilt edges, white moiré paper endpapers (re-backed preserving the original spines, extremities neatly repaired). Provenance: Aleksandr Sarandinaki (bookplates).
FIRST EDITION. The Sarandinaki copy of the history of this elite, Imperial Guard regiment -- one of Russia's most prestigious -- founded by Peter the Great. Includes chromolithographed regimental uniforms and folding maps. WorldCat lists one copy in North America, at Columbia University. Supplementary volumes were published separately.
