RARE COMPLETE SET OF THE FUTURIST JOURNAL PUBLISHED BY VIKTOR KHOVIN. From the third issue, Vasilii Rozanov became a contributor: the journal features his 'Sun' amongst other works and volume six is a commemorative issue inspired by his recent death. Viktor Shklovskii and Boris Eikhenbaum also wrote pieces for the journal. In issues four and five, Khovin attacks the futurists and other artists, including Gor'kii, for serving the new regime with their talents, saying that a fatal mistake is being made, which is that, rather than the violets promised by Lunacharskii, 'only thistles can be grown on the state flowerbeds guarded by the tyrannical keepers of the purity of "proletarian" culture'. Each issue includes a select bibliography of works published in St. Petersburg or elsewhere since the preceding issue, beginning from January 1918. Vladimir Markov, Russian Futurism: A History, 1968, pp.97-100 and 284-285; Not in Getty or MOMA, The Russian Avant-Garde Book. (8)
