Shnell with his blind-stamp, the spines and sides titled in red and silver, the upper sides with the regimental seal blocked in red, the lower sides with the Imperial eagle blocked in silver and gilt, red moiré silk doublures printed with a diapered pattern in silver, edges gilt (minor rubbing and light soiling). Provenance: 'Printed in Soviet Union' (small stamp on front blank).
FIRST EDITION. A FINE SET of one of the rarest, most luxurious and important regimental histories. Potemkin, Orlov, Mannerheim and many other illustrious figures served in the regiment, which distinguished itself particularly during the battles of Austerlitz and Borodino. Richly illustrated with numerous portraits, events and uniforms. RARE: ABPC records no copy sold at auction in over 30 years. Fekula 2752; Zaionchkovskii 1950. (4)
