Original green cloth backed linen boards, lettered in gilt on the spines, uncut (covers of volume 2 slightly rubbed). Provenance: Cecil Fuller (gift insription from Sarah Cheney Cawles dated 1976 in volume 2).

A FINE SET OF THE FIRST EDITION, each volume limited to one thousand copies designed by the GRABHORN PRESS. Charting the history of cartography and exploration in Western America from the first Spanish forays to the U.S. Government sponsored surveys of the 1860s.
