Lot Essay
This figure is part of a Commedia dell'Arte series which was modelled in 1764-65 before Wenzel Neu returned to Fulda in 1767. The series was modelled after the engravings by Johann B. Probst, which were adapted from the drawings by Johann Jacob Schübler and published by Jeremias Wolffs Erben at Augsburg in 1729. This figure of Harlequin was derived from pl. 5.
