A group of four Japanese manju netsuke, 19th and early 20th Century
the first two of ivory: one carved in sunken relief with a variety of theatre masks, details stained in black and red, signed Shuzan..; another partially covered in gold lacquer with a geisha, a samurai his head covered and a fox all in kimono and seated; another of lacquer in iroe takamakie, with a samurai puppet, signed Jyusai; the last of wood and inlaid in ivory, aogai and iroe lacquer of a Chinese standing, and with Benten's fan and Hotei's sack on the reverse -- the first 2in. (5.2cm) diam. (4)
