Two Japapnese large manju netsuke, one signed, 19th Century
each carved in sunk relief, the first of a samurai in full armour galloping on his horse into water, raising his bow and arrow, signed Gyokueisai ... Morinobu with kao; the second carved with Daikoku holding open his sack for the mice, some of which helps pull his large mallet towards it, another with an open fan cheering them on and yet another running towards it with the key to the Gods warehouse in its mouth, eyes inlaid -- the first 2 1/8in. (5.4cm.) diam. (2)
