Lot Essay

Like the previous lot, this drawing is based on a print of 1745 by Joseph Cameratta entitled Une Dame Franque de Galata et son Esclave qui sont sur le point d'aller à Constantinople, made after a drawing by Liotard done during his four-year stay in Constantinople (Fondation Custodia, Paris, RF 1393; see Dessins de Liotard, exhib. cat. Genéve, Musée d'art et d'histoire and Paris, Musée du Louvre, 1992, no. 55).
