The waisted case with vase mount to the pediment and glazed panels to the sides, decorated overall with gilded and engraved foliate inlays, the front door modelled with musical instrument trophies and the rear panel with a diamond-pierced sound fret to its lower half, on a conforming wall bracket with foliate mounts, white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with pierced and engraved brass hands (restored minute), the movement with rectangular plates joined by four back-pinned pillars, twin barrels and converted to anchor escapement, strike work positioned on the back plate for hour and half hour strike on two bells, trip repeat, the lower edge numbered 1785; probably formerly fitted with an independent musical movement; pendulum, case key
