The torso and head separately modelled, covered with white pigment and red details criss-crossed around the body and head, the expressive head with open mouth, an aperture in the top of the neck and apertures for the insertion of legs

An example with less eleborate painting is illustrated by Regina Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, p.73, pl.89.

The result of Oxford thermoluminescence test no. 766s78 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
