A Bitchu Wakizashi in Black Lacquer Mounts
Edo period (17th-18th century), signed Bitchu (no) kami (signature now cut)
Honzukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori, chu-kissaki, itame hada with gunome hamon of nioi, tang o-suriage with 2 holes, one plugged with pewter, silver habaki, 20¼in. (51.5cm.) long; black lacquer ishime ribbed saya mounted with silver fittings carved with crashing waves, comprising: a trapezoidal tsuba, fuchi-gashira and a silver kirin menuki, Goto-school shakudo nanako-ji kozuka with scenes of the Genpei wars in iroe taka-zogan, frame gold, attributed to Kenjo, blade signed Mino Fujiwara Kaneyuki, 19th century
