CIRCA 1775, ASIA WITH OVERGLAZE BLUE ENAMEL CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Each modelled standing, Africa in a feathered headdress and skirt, a black scale-pattern cuirass and a fur cape with a bow and arrow and a quiver of arrows at his shoulder (restoration to neck, bow and quiver lacquered, arrow in left hand mostly lacking and flight restored); Europe as crowned monarch in an ermine-lined pink cloak holding a gilt orb and sceptre (hands, orb and sceptre probably replacements, left arm restored through elbow); America as a blackamoor in a feathered yellow crown, puce patterned tunic and orange-lined red cloak, holding a baton (restoration to baton and front of cape), and Asia in a gilt enriched orange turban surmounted by a crescent, a fur-lined puce cloak and green tunic (restoration through neck, left arm and hand, shoulder and crescent finial), each standing on shaped-oval puce scroll-moulded bases
