Lot Essay

Sir Edwin Landseer (English, 182-1873)

See Joan Jones, Minton, The First Two Hundred Years of Design and Production, Shrewsbury, 1993, p. 65 for a similar service inspired by Landseer that was commissioned by Queen Victoria, circa 1865, for use at Balmoral Castle and Sandringham. Also compare Christie's, New York, 24 October 2006, lot 134.
