A treatise on calligraphy, Persian manuscript on gold speckled cream paper, 24ff. plus 1 fly-leaf, each with 7ll. of black nasta'liq, laid down between polychrome rules on cream paper with gold outer rules, catchwords, important words and phrases picked out in gold or pink, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece, and first and last two folios with text in clouds reserved against gold and margins with gold floral illumination, colophon signed Mahmoud b. Mirza Nasrallah and dated AH 1275, minor areas of localised staining, red morocco binding with gold floral decoration

Mahmud ibn Mirza Nasrullah Mustawfi was a Shirazi nasta'liq scribe working as a chancellery scribe in Tabriz. His only recorded work is a ziyarat-nama dated 1297 (AD 1879-80) in the shrine of Sayyid Hamza in Tabriz (Mehdi Bayani, ahval va asar-e khosh-nevisan, vol. III, Teheran, 1348 sh., pp. 889-900.
