Lot Essay

We are grateful to Richard Ormond for pointing out the relationship between the present picture and 'Wellington with his Generals' of 1813 (location unknown, engraved by Thomas Heaphy and Anker Smith in 1822), and a closely related watercolour in the National Army Museum.
