CIRCA 1560-80, WORKSHOP OF MAESTRO DOMENICO DA VENEZIA
Of cylindrical form with a waisted foot and neck, painted with a yellow and ochre oval medallion enclosing a bearded Saint holding a crucifix, reserved against a blue ground with sgraffito white scrolls and flowering foliage between blue line and yellow band borders, on a turned ebonised wood base, with a similar domed turned wood cover (some chipping to footrim, very minor chipping to upper rim, cover with section lacking and crack to finial)
The albarello and foot 6¾ in. (17.2 cm.) high; 9 15/16 in. (25.3 cm.) high overall including cover
Provenance
Stodel Collection, according to the papel labels attached to the wood base and cover (the labels inscribed 'May 57 Venetië'; the cover applied with a further printed label 'Grande Remise DELPIANO AINÉ')
