Lot Essay

This bowl could perhaps have been part of an 'accouchement' set (see the footnote for the previous lot). For a Deruta bowl of related form, see Jörg Rasmussen, Italian Majolica in the Robert Lehman Collection Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (New York, 1989), pp. 230-231, no. 150.
