Half title, engraved title, additional printed title in red and black, full-page engraved portrait on verso, full-page engraved coat-of-arms on )( )(1v and 59 plates (part of lower margin of plate 3 torn away and repaired, plate 20 with long but closed tear, some light browning and spotting, occasionally heavier, light waterstaining in lower margins, lower corner of )(4 repaired). Contemporary calf (repaired along joints and at head and foot of spine, rubbed).
FIRST EDITION. The work includes 'much useful knowledge, descriptions of scientific instruments and mechanical technology. The first two sections of Technica curiosa are devoted to the aerostatic researches of Guericke and Boyle, and the treatise "Mirabilia chronometrica" gives the first description of a universal joint and a classification of gear teeth'.
