Lot Essay

In addition to a successful career as a commercial photographer, shooting for high-end magazines, album covers and advertisements, the energetic and prolific Ninagawa has published over 35 independent books and won numerous awards. Influenced by Japanese popular culture, she imbues her subjects, in this case goldfish, with visual intensity through the use of vivid, saturated colour.
