A rhinoceros horn flower-form libation cup
17/18th Century
Well carved as a large open flower with overlapping petals that curl up at the edges on the interior, the exterior carved in high relief with a grasshopper seated among lush foliage continuing on the base and borne on intertwining branches forming the handle which continues over the rim towards the interior, the horn of deep honey colour darkening underneath the base and warm patina
