A large Cloisonne vase and cover, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
worked in copper, silver wire and colourful enamels, it stands on three short round copper feet, with six alternating panels containing a fiery dragon or a beautiful phoenix gazing at one another below a band containing stylised dragons, karakusa, pauwlonia and other flowers, the whole on a black ground, the cover with tasseled lappets and stylised clouds on a similar ground, the finial worked in relief in copper and gilt -- 13 3/8in. (34cm.) high.
