Lot Essay

Black-figured olpai and oinochoai with a reserved body and no compositional framing for the figures are termed "red-bodied." According to Cohen (p. 117 in Shapiro, Picón and Scott, eds., Greek Vases in the San Antonio Museum of Art), these vases are associated with the Leagros Group and favored by the Painter of Louvre F 161.
