A COMPOSITE GERMAN CLOSE HELMET
LATE 16TH /EARLY 17TH CENTURY
With rounded skull of two halves joined by a very low strongly roped comb, pivoted visor and bevor, the former with strongly flanged sights, a short prow with slightly concave sides and pierced with three tiers of both slotted and circular breaths left and right, neck-guard of two lames front and rear, plume-holder, turned roped edges, and the skull, visor and bevor all rough from the hammer (the bevor with internally patched early repair, the visor probably 19th century).
