DODGSON, Charles Lutwidge ('Lewis Carroll', 1832-1898). Autograph letter signed ('C.L. Dodgson') to [Elizabeth] Wordsworth, Ch[rist] Ch[urch], Oxford, 2 November 1890, in purple ink, 4 pages, small 8vo.
Dodgson seeks help from Elizabeth Wordsworth, the Principal of Lady Margaret Hall at Oxford. First thanking her for having explained all of the college's rules at great length ('they seem very judicious, & are, I doubt not, very necessary'), Dodgson then preoccupies himself with the overly complicated matter of arranging tickets so that his neice, Edith, might attend a concert at the Oxford University Musical Union with a chaperone.
