FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, FIRST ISSUE, PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION: "To Mrs. Robbins. With affectionate regards from H.G. Nov 17th 1901" on half-title. A story, previously published in The Strand Magazine, anticipating the hopes and fears of the space age, but also functioning as a satire on over-specialisation. Filmed in both 1919 and 1964.
