In the lower section an assembly of holy figures arranged over three ranks, the first row portraying Bishops and Church Fathers to the left and opposite Monastic saints including two children, the upper rows showing martyrs, the colourful and occasionally heavily embroidered vestments of the clerics contrasting with the darker and simpler monkish garments, the upper section showing the Mandylion flanked by the Burning Bush and the Crowned Mother of God and Child; the composition probably the result of a private commission, painted in great detail
